WH Scott has been carrying out engineering examinations since 1897, and the group now completes more than 400,000 statutory examinations a year across the UK and Ireland. Our examiners test fume cupboards, spray booths, welding fume extraction, wood and general dust systems and multi-leg installations - and because we work in both jurisdictions from 14 depots, multi-site clients run one LEV programme, with one point of contact and one reporting portal, whether the asset sits in Southampton or Cork.

What the listed services involve
LEV testing
A thorough examination and test checks the condition of your extraction system and measures airflow to assess how it controls exposure. For most LEV, this is required at least every 14 months under regulation 9 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
Ductwork
Ducts carry contaminated air from the capture point towards a collector or discharge point. Work on their layout, joints and condition affects airflow, access for cleaning and the build-up of material inside.
Spray booth
Spray booth work concerns the airflow and extraction used to contain and remove paint overspray and vapours. Booth condition, filters and the way spraying is carried out all affect exposure control.
Fume extraction
Fume extraction draws airborne contaminants away from a process before they spread through the workplace. Selecting suitable capture equipment and air treatment depends on the fumes or vapours produced and how the work is done.
Welding fume
Welding fume extraction uses equipment such as movable capture arms, extracted benches or on-torch extraction to collect fume near the weld. Positioning the capture point and allowing for the welder's movements are part of making it effective.
