It is a structured check that your LEV still controls exposure as intended - capture at the hoods, airflow through the ducting and air cleaner, and fan performance - measured against the system's design and recorded in a formal report. What happens if a system fails? The report sets out clearly what failed and why, with practical remedial actions. Fixing or improving a failing system is the employer's duty under COSHH - we tell you exactly what needs doing. How long must we keep the records? At least five years. We provide the report and logbook entry for your COSHH file.
What the listed services involve
LEV testing
A thorough examination and test checks the condition of your extraction system and measures airflow to assess how it controls exposure. For most LEV, this is required at least every 14 months under regulation 9 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
Ductwork
Ducts carry contaminated air from the capture point towards a collector or discharge point. Work on their layout, joints and condition affects airflow, access for cleaning and the build-up of material inside.
